In 2024, Irish Casing Company made meaningful progress in promoting employee wellbeing, introducing initiatives that fostered connection, skill development, and a more inclusive workplace culture.
The company completed two employee wellbeing initiatives in 2024, up from zero in 2023 and meeting its milestone target. One of these was Lean Management training, which focused on identifying and reducing waste in time and resources. Staff were encouraged to contribute ideas and highlight areas for improvement, fostering a sense of ownership and collaboration in shaping workplace efficiency.
The second initiative was first aid training, including defibrillator use. This practical training empowered employees with life-saving skills that extend beyond the workplace. Staff reported feeling more confident in their ability to respond to emergencies both at work and in their personal lives, enhancing their sense of preparedness and wellbeing.
In addition, Irish Casing Company organised its first staff meal, increasing the number of staff meals from zero in 2023 to one in 2024, meeting its milestone target. This event brought together both administrative and production staff, offering a rare opportunity for informal interaction across departments.
The shared meal was more than a social gathering, it served as a platform for building camaraderie and breaking down barriers between teams. Employees who typically wouldn’t interact during the workday were able to connect, share stories, and enjoy food together. This initiative helped create a friendlier and more cohesive work environment, reinforcing the company’s commitment to staff morale and inclusion.
