SynerChi Kombucha has made significant progress in reducing general waste. In 2024, the company halved its general waste per unit of output, decreasing from 0.02 kg/kg in 2023 to 0.01 kg/kg, surpassing its milestone target of 0.02 kg/kg. This achievement reflects a strong focus on operational efficiency and waste minimisation.

In response to previous recommendations, SynerChi Kombucha has reprojected its waste target to aim for and maintain an 80% reduction in general waste by the end of its current Origin Green sustainability plan. This ambitious goal demonstrates the company’s commitment to continuous improvement and long-term environmental responsibility.

Progress has been made across several key initiatives. Firstly, employee awareness around waste reduction has been enhanced through internal engagement and training. Regular waste audits have also been conducted to identify opportunities for improvement and track progress. And finally, ongoing monitoring of waste streams has enabled the company to make data-driven decisions and maintain accountability.
