In 2024, Valentia Island Vermouth reached a significant milestone in its sustainability journey by ensuring that 100% of the wine used in its production was certified organic. This marked a notable increase from 70% in 2023 and exceeded the company’s milestone target by 30%. The achievement reflects a clear commitment to sourcing raw materials that align with both environmental values and product integrity.

The transition to fully certified organic wine was the result of a structured and deliberate process. Throughout the year, the company undertook three key initiatives to support this shift. First, it secured a consistent supply of organic wine for use in its products, ensuring that quality and sustainability standards were upheld across all batches.

To validate the change and ensure it met customer expectations, Valentia Island Vermouth conducted blind tastings and customer trials. These trials were instrumental in confirming that the switch to organic wine did not compromise the distinctive flavour profile of the product. Feedback from these sessions helped build confidence in the transition and supported broader acceptance among trade and retail partners.

In parallel, the company began using organic wine as a raw material in production while awaiting the outcome of customer trials. This proactive approach allowed the team to test operational compatibility and maintain momentum toward full certification, even as feedback was being gathered.
